How Do I Use The Accessibility Functions? The "Access Option" box on the right hand side of the screen shows the additional accessibility functions that we provide. Use the respective function key (F9 to F12) to toggle the facility on and off. If you have cookies enabled on your computer the selected function(s) will remain on until they are disabled even if you close you browser and return to our website at a later date. If cookies are disabled on your computer then you may need to reselect the accessibility function for each new page.

How Does The Braille Reader Work? Special braille readers can connect to most personal computers and they convert (render) the contents of a document so that it is displayed in braille on a special keyboard. Images, video, animation, page layout and the use of tables can all cause problems because they are hard to interpret as a continuous text stream. The braille accessibility function on our website produces a special webpage made entirely of text which can be easily read and displayed correctly by a braille reader.

Can I Get Your Website On My Mobile Phone? We provide a special website which is optimised for mobile phones and other mobile devices such as PDAs. We use browser detection to determine the nature of the device accessing our website and automatically redirect it to the correct site. Because new mobile phones and devices are being launched all the time it is possible that your phone was not recognised and you were sent to our normal website by default. If this was the case you can access our mobiles website at "designatom.mobi". I Don‘t Have A Flash Player, Do I Need One? No, we don‘t use Flash animation on our website because not all browsers and computers have a Flash Player and because Flash animation requires lots of memory meaning it takes longer to download than other alternatives. Instead, our website uses dynamic effects (DHTML), animated images and video to deliver moving content. Videos on this website use the Windows Media Player if available, and if not they will use your computer‘s default player which is usually Quicktime for non-Windows browsers.

I Can‘t See Any Special Effects. Many dynamic effects are controlled by a scripting (programming) language called Javascript which is run inside your internet browser. It is possible to disable Javascript from running and this could be why you are not noticing any special effects. You can enable Javascript and you should check your browser‘s help facility for information on how to do this. Some very old browsers or lesser known ones may not run Javascript or comply with current standards so you may experience limited facilities. However, our website is designed to operate properly irrespective of whether Javascript is available and the loss of special effects will not prevent you from using our site. Our mobiles website does not use Javascript due to limited support by mobile phones and other devices.

What Browsers Will Your Website Work With? We have developed our website to comply with current programming standards and industry best practice, and therefore our website should work correctly with all compliant browsers. We have tested our website with all the major browsers which include Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Safari and Opera, and have used both Windows PC and Apple Mac platforms. I Can‘t Find A Contact Email Address. Websites can easily be searched by other software known as robots or spiders, and email addresses can be extracted which are then added to mass mailing lists. Because we would rather not get bogged down with hundreds of spam emails we do not publish any email addresses on our website but use contact forms instead. Designing and programming software solutions is very individulistic, no two projects are ever the same and therefore we need to establish the requirements first.
