The Company
Design Atom is a software development studio based in Cleveleys, Lancashire and is part of the "Equals Success" group of companies which was founded in 2005. We employ the best designers and programmers available and combine experience with imagination to ensure that we deliver exciting and reliable solutions for all our clients. To achieve this we use our own staff for frequent design issues and employ the services of associates for those specialist areas. By doing this we can ensure that each aspect of your project is carried out by the best person available provide an excellant solution.
Our Philosophy
Software is a "black box" to most users, you open it up, use it and it produces some form of result. What goes on inside the software is a mystery and it doesn‘t matter so long as it works for you. We don‘t think that‘s good enough because whilst your software may work for you it probably won‘t work for everyone. The internet in particular is an ideal example of this because it is easy to create a website but quite a lot harder to produce a good website that works on all browsers and for everyone. We listen carefully to what our clients really want, we really think hard about our designs, we produce designs that are imaginative, and we make solutions that everyone can use.
Our Standards
In any form of life standards provide consistancy and set a minimum benchmark for us to achieve. In software development standards and industry best practice exists, but are not often followed. Before we start any design or programming we document and plan our project and throughout the development lifecycle we monitor the growing solution against our plan. This ensures that not only do we produce a solution that actually meets the requirements, but it also functions properly. Where industry standards exist and they are achievable within the scope of the design we will do our very best to achieve those standards. We fully document our projects, including testing, to ensure that the solution meets the requirements, functions correctly and that we can justify the standards that we claim to have achieved.
Imagination
Many designers will rush into the project without much forethought because they think THEY know what YOU want. At the beginning of the project we like to sit back, have a brew, and spend some time thinking about what‘s required, what if this happens or that happens, and really consider the implications of the design. We may come back to you to seek clarification or ask you how certain aspects of your solution should work, but before we start the design phase we will be sure what‘s required. We think that this is really important because a good design must rely on a strong understanding of the requirements.
At Design Atom we think it‘s good to be different because this provides a unique identify and allows you to be noticed. We encourage our designers to produce solutions that encompase their own style but without being radical. Particularly with the internet where a potential customer may visit several sites, this will get you noticed and your website will be remembered for the right reasons.
Partnership
Producing solutions is a joint effort, you know your business, clients and their needs, and we know how to design and develop software and graphics. We believe that working together will produce the best results and will listen to what you want, advise you of the possibilities and when we have agreement we will proceed with the design, keeping you fully informed throughout the project.
